A Bit About Michael
Michael Attard is a Certified Child Life Specialist at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, where he has provided clinical services to pediatric patients and families since 2007. With over two decades of experience in Child Life, Mike has worked extensively in the PICU, Hematology/Oncology, and Emergency Department settings, leading efforts in legacy building, bereavement support, and non-pharmacologic coping strategies for hospitalized children.
At Stony Brook, Mike manages the Child Life Volunteer Program, supervises medical student initiatives including MagicAid, and has been involved in training hospital staff, residents, and interns. He has presented nationally on topics such as compassionate care, surgical preparation, and the integration of magic into pediatric healthcare.
Mike holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Coaching from Stony Brook University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University. He co-authored one of the first published studies validating MagicAid’s impact (Hospital Pediatrics, 2019).
He is passionate about advancing innovative, child-centered care and is excited to help guide MagicAid’s growth in the years ahead.
